Google's recent announcement of its new URL shortener may play a strong role in your site's search engine optimization practices in the future. The service, which converts long URLs into short ones, makes it easier for users to share links on popular social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
A recent article on SearchEngineWatch stated that linkbacks may be improved by the service, and could improve a site's click-through rates. "Goo.gl could work into Google's ranking algorithm and become a factor in real-time search results and possibly even regular search results if the shortener proves popular."
Google also published an updated version of its SEO Starter Guide last week. It features tips on search engine optimization, including valuable insight into mobile search engine optimization.
